I chose the name from the from a card Grandpa Lafayette sent to Grandma Jane while on his mission in England. I have been tracing his travels using the letters they wrote to each other and I thought this would be a good starting point for this blog. Thought this would be a good way to start the new year.
Joseph F. Smith signed Grandpa Lafayette's certificate calling him to serve in the Middle States mission on September 2nd 1902 two years in to a new century. On the 23 of November 1904 he was released from the Eastern States Mission two years and a little under two months from the day he was called. Does anyone know if there is a history of these two missions that go that far back and might give us an idea as to why he started in one mission and ended in another?
He served a mission before he was married and then a second after he was married. Isabelle was two when he left on his second mission to the European Mission with headquarters in Liverpool England where he was made president to the Manchester Conference.
Hi all interested,
Curiosity always leads me down these tangent paths of discovery. I like to try and put pieces together to get a better picture of what life was like before I arrived on the scene.

I am trying to get a calendar going that will show past birthdays and other imported days of our families past.

ReplyDeleteFrom this summary, I gather Lafayette served at least two missions. Is that correct?

DeleteThe calendar crashed and will need to be reloaded.
