Lafayette was called to serve as a missionary to the European Mission by Joseph F. Smith on August 11th, 1911.  The president of the Mission was, Rudger Clawson of the quorum of the Twelve Apostles. 
Lafayette served until his release on September 22, 1913 by E. Taft Benson, acting President of the European Mission located on 295 Edge Lane, Liverpool England.

    Hey, this year marks the 100th anniversary of grandfather's call to serve, then. Neat! And it is neat Rudger Clawson was the mission president.
