Mrs. Lafayette Jackson,
Manassa Colo-

My Dear Wife and Baby
It is with great pleasure that I find time to write you a few lines in answer to your kind and welcome letter which I received this morning and I was sure glad to learn you was all well at home and  I am thankful to be able to report the same of myself.

We are having lots of fog here of late.  It was so thick here at noon today.  Couldn't see to read without lighting the gas,  But it is not as cold as it has been.

Whats the matter with the Republican Party.  I see they are down and out. You know we heard all about the elections the next morning or I guess as soon as you did at home but i forgot to mention it in my last letter so you see I m not losing any sleep about it, if the Democrats did gain the day.  I guess you lost your vote on Teddie.

I am feeling much better since Conference is over as I don't have so much to worry about.  Yesterday I was to to Bolton on  Circuit and there was a lot of Strangers out to our meeting and I talked for an hour , the longest I have ever preached.  Now you must not get it in to your head that I am a good speaker because you will be disappointed  when I come home for I don't often speak over thirty minutes

. I haven't heard much about that Elder that was put in prison.  I see an account of it in yesterday's Sunday paper and I gave it as another reason why the Mormons should be deported from the land.  But, they didn't make as much out of it as I thought they would. (This Elder was mentioned in correspondence between his mission president and the Elder's Father.  He convicted of  inappropriate behavior in public and was not released form prison until he had fulfilled his required time and then his Father came to escort him back home.)

I am glad our little girl is big enough to go to Sunday with Lovina and go to birthday parteis and to remind you of your music lessons.  I do wish I could get another photo of her and of course I would like one of you because the one you sent me last winter I don't like a bit in fact it  gives me the blues to look at it and I do hope you feel better than you look.  Your face looks so thin and peaked and you look so down heartened.

Very sorry to hear of Ada Michelson being so very sick also that sister Gibson was troubled with dropsey, and I do hope they will soon recover.

The Free Press comes alright and I enjoy seeing it.  I will send you some more Stars. The last one has an account of our Conference.  I see Grandma Schofield still has fried chicken and Ice Cream, and the way Bert and Charlie are treating the girls, I may have some new sister in laws before long, and I am sure I have no objections.

That must of bin a grand Ball the Mutual had.  It seems as though the married folks are well represented.  I was glad to hear that Neaf adn Annie are both able to be free from sickness so they could enjoy another good time.   I guess you will tell all about the Election and who you voted for.

With love and best wishes and God bless you.  I am as ever Your Loving Husband

Lafayette.
